How to make dinner fun - Part 2 PDF Print E-mail

table_settingThis is a continuation of the series. If you missed part one you can read it here.

Would you rather just have the same old boring way to dismiss tables from your reception or celebration?

Think back to your last event you attended as a guest that had a buffet. Did it sound something like this?

"Ladies and gentlemen, we will begin dismissing our tables starting with the bride and groom, followed by our wedding party, then our reserved tables, followed by our guests.”

Then what happened next? Everyone stood up and went and got in what seemed like an hour long line, all while smelling the great food and becoming restless and bored. This is what the majority of guests experience at just about every event they attend, or worse the DJ doesn’t say anything at all, and the guests are left to figure out what happens next. This allows your guests to become disconnected from your celebration and leaves them looking for the exit when the fun begins.

Why do your guests have to wait for the fun to begin?

Why not start “the fun” the moment the first guest walks through the door?

The truth is very few entertainers have the talent and skill to make dinner fun.  Today we are going to talk about naming your tables.  This is another great way to break the ice. Using songs from your favorite artists and name the tables after those songs, in place of table numbers.  Or if you are having a themed event, use songs to capture the mood or theme you wish to create.

Then when the guests hear that song played, that is their signal to go through the buffet line. Watch your guests mingle with others as they walk around the room trying to see what all the other tables are named. Make sure your entertainment knows how to do this, and ask your entertainer for ideas to enhance this event.

No matter what event you are planning, I hope you can use the information to make this time a truly memorable experience for you and your guests.
